The Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research (PNGIMR), a statutory authority of the PNG Government, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to take on the senior leadership role of Deputy Director — Corporate Affairs and Support Services.

This position works alongside the Deputy Director — Science and Research, supporting the Director in leading the Institute. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance and accountability, and drive operational excellence across Corporate Affairs and Support Services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead operations management and deliver timely, high-quality, client-focused services to research units, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations and uphold high standards of accountability.
  • Provide strategic leadership, including policy implementation, financial stewardship, and long-term organisational growth.


Selection Criteria

Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • At least 10 years’ senior management experience, including senior financial management duties.
  • Proven record in organisational change management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity, maturity, and a clean professional reputation.
  • Strong knowledge of PNG’s statutory and regulatory framework.


Desirable:

Membership in relevant professional bodies and a strong PNG professional network.

Experience managing contracts, grants, and enterprise systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial/HR software systems.
