Doctors say the issue of drug shortage is due to the failed distribution system we have in the country.
PNG National Doctors Association Executives pointed out a lot of pressing issues on the distribution of medical drugs to the Public Accounts Committee today during the public enquiry.
NDA President Dr. James Naipao told the parliamentary committee that the distribution system on medical drugs is not effective and tampers risks to the quality of the drugs.
When asked by the PAC if the system has been progressing or getting better, NDA executives replied that instead of progressing, it was going backwards.
Among issues pointed out in the distribution system where lack of storage facilities, timing of the delivery of medicines and the type of medicines delivered.
NDA executives have also asked for a review in the 100% medical kits that have been used by NDOH.
